The new setting makes for some new ways to go about the game by letting players plan their attacks. Players are able to go to the various floors of the tall buildings. They can even explore buildings that have been destroyed. Players will become Alcatraz in the Crysis 2 single player campaign. Laurence Prophet Barnes, an officer for the army delta force, is coming back from the first Crysis. He gives Alcatraz the nano suit 2.0. The CryNet groups have been trying to hunt down Prophet for the suit he had, but now the player will have it and will also be hunted by CryNet. The nanosuit 2.0 has been improved and possesses additional features. The suit was made to be more efficient by allowing the player to use several settings at once. In the original Crysis it was only possible to use one mode on the suit at a time. The individual modes have also been upgraded to become more efficient. The modes of strength and power were put together to create a mode called power. Even the binoculars built into the suit feature a new tactical mode. The new stealth mode makes the cloak on the suit become more sleek and allows the player to get melee kills silently. The armor mode didn’t experience any great changes it just became easier for it to lose power and harder for it to move with agility. Finally, Crysis 2 enables the players to customize and upgrade their nanosuit based on their methods of combat. Crysis 2 also redesigned the aliens that were included in the first Crysis game. These aliens attack Alcatraz as he travels around the destroyed version of New York City. The graphics have been switched over to use the mechanics of 3D imaging in Crysis 2. The player will experience the storyline of Crysis 2 in the year 2023. The events are meant to be happening three years after what happened in the original Crysis. The reason the city of New York appears to be destroyed is because the city was evacuated after aliens invaded. Crysis 2 starts out with a news broadcast talking about the spreading of the virus in Manhattan. This causes people to panic and chaos appears everywhere. They are also freaking out about an invasion of the Ceph, which is the alien race that looks similar to squid and appeared in the previous Crysis. Since New York was in a state of panic the government put Manhattan under martial law to prevent it from happening there. Soldiers that work for CryNet end up coming into the city to put an end to and prevent anymore chaos. There are a total of twenty four different weapons included in the Crysis 2 campaign. Attachments are available for the weapons in Crysis 2. The silencer will be the most important because when paired with the cloak mode on the nanosuit, the player is completely silent. The heavier machine guns are suggested for when the player is in a big combat battle. The stronger enemies, such as the Ceph Pinger, require stronger weapons like the C4 or JAW to be defeated. The handguns are suggested for when the player is going to be in a closed off area with fewer enemies. They are made to allow the player to defend themselves. They aren’t the weapon for taking out a crowd of enemies alone. The different handguns in Crysis 2 are the nova, hammer, and majestic. There are also personal defense weapons in Crysis 2 that are best for characters in vehicles. They are small and easy to carry but are also capable of automatic fire. They include all of the sub machine guns and machine pistols in the game: the ay69, feline, and the k-volt. Shotguns are another type of firearm offered in Crysis 2’s gameplay. They shoot their ammo in a spinning motion to allow for greater chance of accuracy. The downside to the shoguns is that they aren’t very powerful because most of the energy goes into making the bullet spin out of the barrel. The two specific shot guns in Crysis 2 are called jackal and marshall. The assault rifles offer the benefits of the marksman rifle and machine guns.
